Jumping Criticism
Meet the “opposing checker” on this checkerboard ready to “jump” you if you don’t jump it first! (See Jude 1:18-19 below). It’s called Criticism. The wrong kind of criticism is like “a piece against peace” and so much more than just another obstacle. Getting around this game piece is tricky (See Proverbs 9:8). But it can be done.
Innocent Criticism Stares At Success, Not You.
Here’s a fun experiment: the next time these fault-finders unfairly criticize you, surprise their foolishness and say, “You’re right!” Then immediately ask, “Can you help me with this?” Now if they’re faking being “just concerned about you,” you will see their face drop and their voice stutter! Here’s why: it’s a “double-jump” to their strategy. It’s like a “checkmate” on a checkerboard!
First, you’ve said, “You’re right.” Here’s a secret: fools don’t care about being correct; they care about sustained conflict. Mockers and scoffers live inside the ream of impossibility to “romanticize and isolate their own opinions (as the last post says).” So what you have done is promoted them to reality and made them severely uncomfortable.
Second, “Can you help me this?” You’ve actually, successfully charged them for their discomfort, which they must pretend to enjoy, by soliciting their advice. In order words, you’re asking them to volunteer knowledge and wisdom. But see, critics have none. Add to that, they’re exhausted from pointing their fingers. This is a pop quiz on the subliminal stance they’ve been taking. And before they fail, they will surely negotiate with this pressure which is ultimately them betraying themselves. If you remember the character Farah (Pharisee) inside our Parable of The Smarter Copycat, she couldn’t offer what she advertised. And it’s the same way with these types of people: they are simply not “The Way (John 14:16).”
When truth itself criticizes their motivation to criticize, they won’t want to bother you anymore. And the stress promised after “jumping criticism” will be irrelevant because it will move itself out of your way!
And yes… I know what you’re all wondering, “Did Junior and the Shy Girl ever go steady? You betcha’ we did! That’s why we can all “Double-Jump” the strategy of Criticism all the way to The Kingdom! God Bless.
Jude 1:18-19
They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.
Proverbs 9:8
He who corrects a scoffer gets dishonor for himself, And he who reproves a wicked man gets insults for himself.
Proverbs 9:9
Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.
Keep Jumping!
